電影是以義大利爵士鋼琴手盧卡佛洛瑞(Luca Flores)生平拍成的傳記音樂電影。盧卡佛洛瑞只活了三十八年，一九五六年出生，一九九五年三月二十九日自殺身亡。五歲開始學鋼琴，幼時隨著雙親在巴西和莫桑比克等地方，後來因為目賭母親開車時在駕駛座上，轉頭向他微笑，來不及看到迎面而來的車子，而發生車禍因此過世，從此這一幕糾纏了他的一生，成為揮之不去的夢魘。母親過世後，他在一九七零年回到佛羅倫斯，進入凱魯畢尼音樂院攻讀古典鋼琴演奏的文憑，畢業後因為嚮往爵士、再加上喪母之痛帶給他的影響，轉而投入爵士音樂的懷抱，組了一個自己的五重奏，開始在義大利重要的音樂節中多次和查特貝克(Chet Baker)、戴夫荷蘭(Dave Holland)、李柯力滋(Lee Konitz)、帕歐羅‧佛烈蘇(Paolo Fresu)、Enrico Rava等爵士名家合作。並從一九八六年開始灌錄個人專輯，前後共有十四張專輯問世，最後一張【For Those I never Knew】是一張完全鋼琴獨奏的專輯，片中第一軌（How Far Can you Fly），正是他自殺前灌錄的最後一首曲子，錄完這首曲子十天後，他就以自殺結束了三十八年的人生。而這首曲子成了「寂寞鋼琴師」中的主題曲。
盧卡佛洛瑞在義大利是傳奇性的人物，他被義大利人視為二十世紀最偉大的爵士鋼琴手，也因此吸引羅馬市長Walter Veltroni為他寫了一部傳記「世界的專輯」，導演Riccardo Milani就是看了這部傳記才興起將他的一生改編為電影。這份電影原聲帶中所用的音樂，都是盧卡佛洛瑞自己專輯中的錄音，對喜愛爵士音樂的人而言，也是一份精彩盧卡佛洛瑞精選輯。 -

弗兰克目前已发行五张专辑，从他的唱片和众多音乐会中很容易感受到其不断让自己个人的作曲与和弦重编技术的提高，他的锐利和内聚力具有创造性地在他的音乐中体现并形成一种强有力的结合，这种风格使他成为众多年轻钢琴家中最独特的一个。

Born in Boston in January 1953, Stern grew up in Washington, DC, then returned to Boston to study at the Berklee College of Music. After college, he got his start as a guitar player with Blood, Sweat & Tears at age 22. Following a brief stint with Billy Cobham's powerhouse fusion band from 1979 to 1980, he moved to New York City, where he was recruited by Miles Davis to play a key role in Miles' celebrated comeback band of 1981 (which also included bassist Marcus Miller, drummer Al Foster, percussionist Mino Cinelu and saxophonist Bill Evans). During his three-year period with Miles, Stern appeared on three recordings with the jazz maestro - Man with the Horn, Star People and the live We Want Miles. He toured with Jaco Pastorius' Word of Mouth Band from 1983 through 1985 and returned to Miles' lineup for a second tour of duty that lasted close to a year.JZ club 22:00 -

The Core
Norway’s The Core is a great jazz act that has played with the likes of Chick Corea, Pat Metheny and many others, and are known for their high-energy live set. Saxophonist Kjetil Møster received the International Jazz Award for New Talent in New York in 2006. The band plays music in a style reminiscent of John Coltrane, combined with contemporary rock and funk grooves.
